our Story
Once Upon a Time in 2022
What started in 2022 as the St. George Young Theatre program has grown into something even more impactful. Our journey began with two ladies and a simple goal: give local youth a stage for creativity and expression. Since then, our incredible students and volunteers have brough 8 beloved plays and a total of 17 performances to life - From The Worst Christmas Pageant Ever to The Canterville Ghost.
But as we looked toward 2026, we realized it was time to grow. So we did. We became a 501(c)(3) charitable organization now known as The Saint George Center for the Arts and Sciences! π¨π¬
Don't worry, we still have our flagship program
St. George Young Theatre.
Our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality Arts and
STEM education for youth across Saint George and upper Dorchester County. By
removing financial barriers, weβre ensuring every child has a place to:
β
Build & Design
β
Act & Create
β
Collaborate & Lead
From the stage to the lab, we are here to help kids bring
their ideas to life!
December 2022 was our first show - The Worst Christmas Pageant Ever
The St. George Young Theatre Program and the St. George Center for the Arts & Sciences would not and could not exist with the amazing leadership and love from our Town of St. George leaders, the students, their parents, grandparents, family members, friends, all of the amazing volunteers we have had since day 1 in 2022, the amazing families in the Town of Friendly People and rural areas throughout Dorchester County, Berkeley County, and Colleton County. Our students could not do any of this without your support.
Six core values guide us in protecting our participants and building a stronger future and better programs.
